Editorial Policy

Original writing

Style guides, career guides and tool explanations are written in-house in plain English. Facts are checked against primary or well-established sources (government data, published histories, governing bodies such as WDSF, CALLERLAB and the CLRG).

Open data, clearly labeled

Directory and statistics pages come from public datasets. We show the source, the data year and a link to the original on every such page. Encyclopedia summaries from Wikipedia are marked and licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

What we do not do

We do not invent reviews, ratings, prices or events. Business listings are factual records from OpenStreetMap or IRS files, not endorsements. We do not publish street addresses of small nonprofits (which are often private homes) or the names of private individuals from tax files.

Corrections

Found an error, an outdated listing or a missing studio? Email us via the contact page. OpenStreetMap listings can also be corrected directly on openstreetmap.org — our pages update on the next data refresh.

Medical and financial information

Health and research pages summarize published studies for general information only and are not medical advice. Salary pages report official statistics, not personal financial advice.
